I like to think of my art as pop art with a heart. I am drawn to themes of love, fate and relationships. I use photographic images that have relevance to me and like to play with composition and layering images. The prints submitted are of racehorse Red Rum and The Wave a brutalist apartment building from 1979. I love the idealism of futuristic buildings from the past that have now become dystopian. A future than didn’t end up as intended.
I work from a small shed in my garden in Cornwall and have built a press. I expose the light sensitive emulsion stencils in the sun and everything is very basic and homemade. This makes registering the print tricky but I like the mid-registrations and imperfections that give the print a uniqueness. I only print small print runs of either 8 or 12 prints and each is slightly different.
